The short version
All metadata reading, scrubbing, redaction, and verification happen locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. We do not receive, see, store, or transmit your files or anything extracted from them. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser’s network tab while using Scrubbr — no request carries your file.
What we do NOT collect
We do not collect your files, file names, file contents, extracted text, metadata, images, or page contents. None of that is ever sent anywhere. The pdf.js worker, fonts, and CMaps that power the PDF features are bundled as local assets, so even the heavy PDF processing makes no third-party requests.
Information involved in using Scrubbr
Local storage: if you buy Pro, your license key and Pro status are stored in your browser’s local storage so the unlock persists. This stays on your device; we cannot read it.
License requests: activating or restoring Pro sends only your license key (or a Stripe checkout session id) to our licensing endpoints. These requests never include any file data.
Server logs: like most websites, our host records standard request logs (e.g., IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) for security and reliability. These logs never contain your files.
Analytics: the site uses no tracking cookies and no advertising trackers. If we ever add analytics, it will be a privacy-respecting, cookieless solution that never sees your file data.
Payments
Pro purchases are handled by Stripe. When you check out, Stripe processes your payment and may collect your name, email, billing address, and payment details directly — we never see your card number. We receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded and minimal order details (such as your name and email) to issue and support your license. Stripe’s handling of your data is governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy (stripe.com/privacy).
Hosting and third parties
The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard request logs as described above. Payments are processed by Stripe. These are the only third parties involved, and neither receives your files. We do not sell or share personal information.
Your rights and contact
Because we hold almost no personal data about you, there is little to access, correct, or delete — but if you have any privacy question or request (including questions about a purchase), email us at support@scrubbr.pro and we will help. You can remove your local license at any time from the Pro dialog (“Remove license from this browser”).
Children
Scrubbr is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
